All right, it’s been slow news-wise the last couple of days, so I’ve been working on new Blu-ray and DVD reviews. Be sure to watch for those over the next day or two...

In announcement news, Universal has officially set Studio Ghibli’s When Marnie Was There for Blu-ray and DVD combo release on 10/6. Both versions will feature trailers and TV spots, plus a behind-the-scenes featurette on the voice talent. The Blu-ray will exclusively add 2 more documentaries (The Making of When Marnie Was There and Yohei Taneda Creates the Art of When Marnie Was There) and feature-length storyboard version of the film. [Read on here…]

Here’s something cool we didn’t expect: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s The City of Lost Children for Amazon-exclusive Blu-ray release on 10/13. The disc will include commentary with Jeunet and actor Ron Perlman, 3 featurettes (The Making of The City of Lost Children, Archives of Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and Interview with Jean-Paul Gaultier), and trailers.

Meanwhile, Lionsgate has set Love & Mercy for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/15, with a digital release on 8/25. This is the biopic about Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, starring Paul Dano and John Cusack. Extras will include 2 featurettes (A California Story: Creating the Look of Love & Mercy and A-Side/B-Side: Portraying the Life of Brian Wilson), deleted scenes, and audio commentary with director/producer Bill Pohlad and executive producer/co-writer Oren Moverman.

Scream Factory has officially set The Return of Count Yorga for Blu-ray release on 10/13, featuring audio commentary with film historian Steve Haberman and actor Rudy De Luca, the trailer, TV and radio spots, and a gallery of still images.

Kino Lorber is working on a Blu-ray and DVD of Delirious (1991).

Finally, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has just set Me and Earl and the Dying Girl for Blu-ray and DVD release on 10/6, with a digital release due on 9/18.

Here’s a look at a few upcoming titles, including a couple mentioned above...

When Marnie Was There (Blu-ray Disc)    The City of Lost Children (Blu-ray Disc)    Chaplin's Essanay Comedies 1915 (Blu-ray/DVD)

The Eiger Sanction (Blu-ray Disc)    The Beguiled (Blu-ray Disc)    Coogan's Bluff (Blu-ray Disc)

Don’t forget that AMC’s new Fear the Walking Dead TV series starts on Sunday, and that The Walking Dead: The Complete Fifth Season arrives on Blu-ray next Tuesday (click here to pre-order).

Have a great weekend!
