In announcement news today...

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has set Battle of the Sexes for Blu-ray and DVD release on 1/2/2018.

STX films and Universal have just set The Foreigner for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/9, with the Digital release due on 12/26. There’s no word of a 4K release. The film stars Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. Extras will include a making of featurette, interviews, and trailers.

Universal will also release Brad’s Status on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/2/2018 as well.

Lionsgate will release Friend Request on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/9, with the Digital HD due on 12/19. Looks like a featurette is the only extra. They also have Bullet Head coming on 1/9 on Blu-ray and DVD, and Ten Days in the Valley: A 10-Part Limited Series is due on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/2.

Here’s something very cool: It looks like Kino Lorber is going to be releasing The Pink Panther Cartoon Collection – Vol. 1 on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/30/2018 (SRP $29.95 and $19.95, respectively). It looks like the set will include 20 cartoons on 1 disc in each set. Kino will also release a Judgment at Nuremberg: Special Edition, Inherit the Wind, and Intermezzo: A Love Story on Blu-ray on 1/9/2018.

Scream Factory has set the Hell Night: Collector’s Edition for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 1/2. Extras on the Blu-ray will include a new 4K scan of the best surviving archival print, new interviews (with director Tom DeSimone, producer Bruce Cohn Curtis, writer Randolph Feldman, and actors Linda Blair, Peter Barton, Vincent Van Patten, Suki Goodwin, Kevin Brophy and Jenny Neumann), audio commentary (with Linda Blair, Tom DeSimone, Irwin Yablans and Bruce Cohn Curtis), 3 new featurettes (Anatomy of the Death Scenes with Tom DeSimone, Randolph Feldman, Make-up artist Pam Peitzman, Art Director Steven G. Legler and Special Effects artist John Eggett, On Location at the Kimberly Crest House with Tom DeSimone, and Gothic Design in Hell Night with Steven G. Legler), an original radio spot, a photo gallery of rare stills, the original theatrical trailer, and TV spots.

Cinedigm will release Loving Vincent on Blu-ray on 1/16/18.

Warner Bros will release Animal Kingdom: The Complete Second Season on DVD only on 2/13/18.

And Amazon is now taking pre-orders on the Blu-ray and DVD release of Warner’s The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eleventh Season. Click here and here for that.

Now then... a quick heads-up on the Target-exclusive 4K Ultra HD release of Stranger Things: Season 1. There seems to be no firm street date. People are just finding copies at their local Target stores randomly at the moment. However this is important to be aware of: Reports from readers who have purchased copies and viewed the discs indicate that the 4K version has NO HDR – not Dolby Vision and not even HDR10. Also, the discs have lossy audio. Which makes no sense, as the Blu-ray set (which we reviewed here) has Dolby TrueHD. Whoever authored and produced these discs really dropped the ball. So buyer beware.

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for a few of the titles mentioned above and more (with Amazon pre-order links if available)...

The Foreigner (Blu-ray Disc) The Plague Dogs (Blu-ray Disc) Drag Me to Hell: Collector's Edition (Blu-ray Disc)

Victoria & Abdul (Blu-ray Disc) Brad's Status (Blu-ray Disc) Farewell My Lovely/The Big Sleep (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned...
