Still Alice, Black or White, Cannibal Ferox, Winter Sleep & more, plus Michael Coate looks back at 1941

We’re closing out the week today (on this first day of Spring) with a new History, Legacy & Showmanship column from our own Michael Coate, looking back at Steven Spielberg’s 1941. The film turned 35 last year. Speaking of which, if you happen to live in the L.A. area, be sure to check out the American Cinematheque screening of 1941 at the Egyptian this Sunday, hosted by Mike Matessino of La-La Land Records. In announcement news today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set Still Alice for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/12.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Black or White on Blu-ray and DVD on 5/5, starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer.

FUNimation has set the Darker Than Black: Season One – Premium Edition for Blu-ray release on 5/12.

Grindhouse Releasing has Umberto Lenzi’s Cannibal Ferox coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 5/12.

Adopt Films has set Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Winter Sleep for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/5.

Acorn Media will release New Worlds on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/30.

Entertainment One will release Pound of Flesh on Blu-ray and DVD on 6/23, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.

And finally, BBC Home Entertainment will release Ripper Street: Season Three on both formats on 6/23.
