All right, we’re kicking things off today with four more reviews...

Tim has posted his thoughts on the Windrider: Special Collection’s Edition Blu-ray from the MVD Rewind Collection. David has checked out Super Troopers 2 on Blu-ray from Fox. And Dennis has a look for you at William H. Macy’s Krystal on good old DVD from Lionsgate.

Meanwhile, I’ve posted my in-depth review of John McTiernan’s original Predator (1987) on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. The disc streets today, and you should be aware that the film looks exactly as it should in 4K, with a great transfer that preserves the original grain. The film has never looked better. Note that the package also includes the previous Ultimate Hunter Edition Blu-ray, which still has the excessive DNR.

As for the Predator 3-Film Collection in 4K Ultra HD, know that Predator 2 also features a terrific new native 4K scan, while Predators is a decent 2K DI upsample. The package also includes the same Blu-ray editions as before. [Read on here...]

Speaking of 4K Ultra HD, Warner’s The Matrix Trilogy is now available for pre-order on the format on 10/2 (SRP $70.99). You can see the cover artwork above left and also below. This is not officially announced yet, but we expect it to be at any time. Also coming that day in 4K as single-film SKUS are The Matrix Revolutions and The Matrix Reloaded. See the cover art for those below. Like the original The Matrix in 4K (see our review here), expect them both to have Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos object-based audio.

Hey, remember how we told you that the earlier Fast and the Furious films were coming to 4K as well from Universal? Well those are now available for pre-order too on Amazon, also on 10/2 (see the cover art and Amazon links below). Looks like they’ll all have DTS-X object based audio.

Lionsgate has also officially announced Sam Raimi’s original The Evil Dead for release on 4K Ultra HD on 10/9. Audio will be 5.1 Dolby TrueHD, with Dolby Vision HDR. The 4K disc will also feature the audio commentary with Raimi, producer Robert Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell. We’re awaiting final cover artwork.

Not to be outdone, the studio also set Uncle Drew for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 9/25 as well, with the Digital release expected on 9/11. Both Blu-ray versions will feature Dolby Atmos audio.

And Universal has set The First Purge for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 10/2, with the Digital release expected on 9/18. Both Blu-ray versions will feature DTS-X audio.

In regular Blu-ray news, HBO has set their recent Fahrenheit 451 film remake for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/18.

CAV is distributing Fries Films’ release of Starchaser: The Legend of Orin on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/9. You’ll find the cover art below.

Lionsgate has created a trailer for their release of Francis Ford Coppola’s Tucker: The Man and His Dream on Blu-ray on 8/28. Interestingly, the film will also be available in digital-only 4K with Dolby Vision HDR. It’s disappointing that they’re not planning a physical 4K release. In any case, you can see the trailer here...

Also, Warner Bros. is once again releasing their How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Ultimate Edition on Blu-ray on 10/23. It doesn’t look like a 4K version is planned.

And Kino Lorber Studio Classics has announced that they’re releasing I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (1990) on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/23, followed by D.O.A. (1988) on both formats on 10/30.

Here’s a look for you at the Blu-ray and 4K cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above. Click on the covers to pre-order them on Amazon.com, if available...

The Matrix Trilogy (4K Ultra HD) The Matrix Reloaded (4K Ultra HD) The Matrix Revolutions (4K Ultra HD)

The Fast and the Furious (4K Ultra HD) The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (4K Ultra HD) 2 Fast 2 Furious (4K Ultra HD)

Finally today, I’ve got one other item for you...

Are any of you guys out there board gamers? A great friend of mine from all the way back in high school in North Dakota, Scott DeMers, is a game designer and has just launched a Kickstarter for his latest project, Hellenica: Story of Greece. It looks amazing, featuring an EPIC scale of civilization building in a world of both mythological gods and the dawn of human reason and philosophy. The game supports 1-7 players. If you’re a fan of such things, do give it a look here...

Hellenica: Story of Greece (Board Game)

All right, that’s all for today. Back tomorrow with more.

Stay tuned...
