Blu-ray News – Criterion & Scream reveal Nov slates, plus Eastwood, That 70s Show, Carol Burnett & more

The big news today is that Criterion has just revealed their terrific November slate of Blu-ray and DVD titles, which is set to include Michael Haneke’s Code Unknown (Cat #780 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 11/10, Satyajit Ray’s The Apu Trilogy (Cat #782 – Blu-ray and DVD – includes Pather Panchali, Aparajito, and Apur Sansar) and Richard Brooks’ In Cold Blood (Cat #781 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 11/17, and D. A. Pennebaker’s Don’t Look Back (Cat #786 – Blu-ray and DVD) and Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru (Cat #221 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 11/24. Also coming from Criterion on DVD only on 11/3 is Eclipse Series 44: Julien Duvivier in the Thirties (SRP $59.95 – includes David Golder, Poil de Carotte, La tête d’un homme, and Un carnet de bal).  [Read on here…]

Scream Factory has also revealed their November Blu-ray slate, set to include a Troll/Troll 2 double feature and White of the Eye on 11/17, followed by Ghost Story and Blood and Lace on 11/24.

Meanwhile, Universal has set the Clint Eastwood catalog films The Beguiled, Coogan’s Bluff, The Eiger Sanction, and Play Misty for Me for Blu-ray release on 11/10 (SRP $19.98 each).

We finally have a look at the packaging for Mill Creek Entertainment’s That ’70s Show: The Complete Series on Blu-ray (due 11/3 – SRP $149.99). Extras on the 18-disc set will include an all HD interactive trivia game, audio commentary on select episodes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, cast flashbacks, a series retrospective, bloopers special, season overviews, a photo gallery, original promo spots and more. That '70s Show: The Complete Series (Blu-ray Disc)

Image is releasing Some Kind of Hate on Blu-ray on 10/27.

Zeirgeist Films will release The Quay Brothers: Collected Short Films on Blu-ray on 10/20, including some 15 of their films (made from 1984 to 2013) plus extras. SRP is $34.99.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set Dead Rising: Watchtower for DVD and digital release on 10/6.

Disney’s Aladdin: Diamond Edition is now available for pre-order on Blu-ray on Amazon for $36.99. See the cover artwork below.

Paramount’s Terminator Genisys is also now officially due on 10/13 and is also available for pre-order on Amazon (SRP $36.99).

Brink Vision will release the horror comedy Blood Riders: The Devil Rides with Us on DVD on 8/25.

And Time Life will release the 6-disc The Carol Burnett Show: The Lost Episodes box set on DVD on 9/15 (SRP $59.95). It includes 16 rare episodes, plus 5 hours of extras including a backstage tour of CBS Studio 33 where the show was originally taped, 13 exclusive new interviews (with Alan Alda, Julie Andrews, Vikki Carr, Carol Channing, Bill Hader, Jack Jones, Jim Nabors, Queen Latifah, Gloria Loring, Don Rickles, Lesley Ann Warren and more), never-before-seen bloopers and outtakes, newly-produced featurettes, bonus sketches (including “Morton at the Movies” and the all-time classic “The Dentist”), and the opening number from the historic Julie and Carol at Lincoln Center TV special (with a new introduction by Carol).
