First, Arrow Video has officially announced their January 2026 slate of Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD titles, which is set to include Basil Dearden’s The Assassination Bureau (1969) on Blu-ray in the UK only on 1/5, Andrew Davis’ Under Siege (1992) on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in the UK, US, and Canada on 1/5-6, Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise (2023) in 4K UHD in the US and Canada on 1/13, Ron Underwood’s City Slickers (1991) on Blu-ray in the UK only on 1/19, David R. Ellis’ Snakes on a Plane (2006) on 4K UHD and Blu-ray in the UK, US, and Canada on 1/19-20, Michelle Garza Cervera’s Huesera: The Bone Woman (2022) on Blu-ray in the UK only on 1/26, and finally E. L. Katz’s Cheap Thrills (2013) on Blu-ray in the US only on 1/27. You can pre-order them here in the UK and here in the US, and you can see what they all look like below...
Also today, Universal has set Scott Derrickson’s Black Phone 2 (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and 4K Steelbook release on 12/23. Also coming that same day is a new Black Phone: 2-Film Collection on Blu-ray and 4K.
Kino Lorber Studio Classics has just revealed that Roger Donaldson’s Dante’s Peak (1997) will finally arrive on 4K Ultra HD on 12/16. Some of you may recall that this title was originally announced for 4K release on 2/11, but it was delayed indefinitely (along with Rob Cohen’s Daylight (1996) which was set for 3/11 and then similarly delayed). The good news is that the wait has been worth it: The title will now include a new Dolby Atmos mix, and the film’s isolated score along with additional legacy extras.
It’s no mistake that both Dante’s Peak and Daylight share a common producer: Joseph Singer. For those who may have wondered why these titles were delayed, I suspect it’s because Singer found out they’d been scheduled for 4K disc and he alerted both Donaldson and Cohen, who wanted to be involved and to approve the new remasters. So you can bet that Daylight will be re-announced soon for 4K release as well.
While we’re talking KLSC, the company has also revealed that both William Dear’s Harry and the Hendersons (1987) and Howard Deutsch’s The Great Outdoors (1988) are coming soon to 4K Ultra HD. Likewise, James Goldstone’s Swashbuckler (1976) is coming soon to Blu-ray. And Chris Noonan’s Babe (1995) and George Miller’s Babe: Pig in the City (1998) are now both official for 4K UHD release from KLSC on 12/16.
Paramount and Alliance Home Entertainment have just announced this afternoon that Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone: The Complete Series will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD for the first time on 11/18. This is interesting for a few reasons, the first of which is the show’s popularity. But also, it’s interesting because Paramount’s Home Entertainment depart has essentially be eliminated in the latest round of layoffs at the company under new Skydance/David Ellison management. And also because that same regime has just allowed Sheridan to jump ship to Universal (as reported here last week).
Finally, Shout! Studios has begun to announce their January slate, which will include John Woo’s Bullet in the Head (1990) in 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on 1/6/25 as part of their Hong Kong Cinema Classics line. Also coming on 1/17 is a 4K Standard Edition release of GKids animated Arcane: League of Legends – Season One (2021). On 1/20, look for David Ayer’s End of Watch (2012) in 4K + Blu-ray Steelbook. And finally, look for new 4K Steelbooks of Marc Forster’s World War Z (2013) and Mamoru Hosoda’s Summer Wars (2009) on 1/27, along with John Woo’s Once a Thief (1991) in 4K + Blu-ray also as part of the Hong Kong Cinema Classics line.
Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned...
