Major new Shout!, Scream, and Arrow Video announcements, plus Disney/Pixar’s final batch of 4K animated titles on 3/3

All right, we’ve got major new announcements from Shout! Factory and Scream for you today...

For March, the companies have added Jack Smight’s British production of Frankenstein: The True Story (1973) to their 3/24 slate. Shout! is also releasing The Transformers: The Complete Original Series DVD box set on 3/31.

In April, in addition to the Escape from L.A.: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray on 4/28, Shout! and Scream will release Swift and Knives and Skin (for IFC) on 4/7, Homeboy and Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter on 4/14, The Spider (1958) and The Curse of the Werewolf: Collector’s Edition (1961) on 4/21, and Underdog: The Complete Series Collector’s Edition (DVD), Shatter (1974), and The Lost Continent (1968) on 4/28. And in May, in addition to Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead: Shout Select on 5/26, look for an Idle Hands: Collector’s Edition on 5/12, The Good Place: The Complete Series – Collector’s Edition, the Hammer Films title Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974), the Hammer title The Evil of Frankenstein: Collector’s Edition (1964), and Mario Bava’s Italian actioner Danger: Diabolik (1968) on 5/19.

Also today, Arrow Video has announced a nice April Blu-ray slate, which is set to include The Wind (1986), Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988), Sixteen Candles (1984), Why Don’t You Just Die! (2018), Hagazussa: A Heathen’s Curse (2018 – in the UK only), and a Solid Metal Nightmares: The Films of Shinya Tsukomoto box set (that includes Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Tetsuo II: Body Hammer, The Adventure of Denchu-Kozo, Tokyo Fist, Bullet Ballet, A Snake of June, Vital, Haze, Kotoko, and Killing).

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release Alfonso Gomez-Rejon’s long-awaited and oft-delayed The Current War, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, and Tom Holland, on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/31.

Our friends at Flicker Alley and the 3-D Film Archive have announced the Blu-ray 3D release of 3-D Rarities, Volume II on 4/7.

And it looks like Disney and Pixar’s final round of animated catalog films is finally official and available for pre-order on Amazon.com for release on 3/3. They include Monsters, Inc., Monsters University, Up, Wall-E, and A Bug’s Life. You can see them below (click on the covers to visit the relevant Amazon pages)...
