Now then, the big announcement news this week is a nice surprise: Thomas Kail’s hit musical Hamilton: Collector’s Edition (2020) is coming to 4K Ultra HD from Disney! It’ll have Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. This, of course, is the wildly popular Lin-Manual Miranda show featuring the original Broadway cast. Look for that to street on 6/16. Here’s the Amazon pre-order link.
Also today, our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have revealed that Joseph Sargent’s MacArthur (1977) is coming to 4K Ultra HD on 6/30. And following on 7/13 in 4K: Michael Ritchie’s The Island (1980)!
Universal has set Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 6/16. A 4K Steelbook version will also be available, along with a double feature 4K of The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) and the new one.
Magnolia has set Ben Wheatley’s Normal (2026) for release on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on 7/14.
A24 has set Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama (2026) for release on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release in July (the exact street date is TBA).
Radiance has set Dennis Hopper’s The Hot Spot (1990) for release on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on 8/18.
Dark Force Entertainment has set Jerry Jameson’s Brute Corps (1971) for release in 4K UHD on 7/14.
The MVD Rewind Collection will release Deran Sarafian’s Death Warrant (1990) in 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on 8/11.
And Amazon MGM Studios and Alliance Entertainment are soon going to begin taking pre-orders for the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Project Hail Mary (2026). The street date is still TBA, but this too will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. I suspect there will be some nice Amazon-exclusive SKUs.
Also, our friends at the Criterion Collection have revealed on social media that they’re announcing their August slate of Blu-ray and 4K titles on Monday. Click here to see their post.
Finally today, we’ll leave you with something fun…
My old friend Robert Meyer Burnett—the director of Free Enterprise—has just begun selling hundreds of the coolest film posters of the late 1950s, 60s, 70s, and early 80s on eBay. What’s exciting about this is that they were recovered from an extraordinary uncirculated stash from the National Screen Service Corporation in Englewood, New Jersey—the company that printed and distributed nearly all of the Hollywood studio movie posters to theater chains for decades!
So we’re talking about some vintage and extremely rare items, including one sheets, half sheets, inserts, 40x60s, complete lobby card sets, and more—again, all of them uncirculated!
Available for sale right now in the auction are a ton of great Horror film items and some related to the films of Barbara Streisand. Additional items are dropping later this afternoon. Next week, all the great Star Wars items are going up for sale! And there’s a TON more to follow after that—action films, sci-fi and fantasy films, Bond films, Hitchcock films, comedies, dramas, etc.
Whether you’re interested in buying (and maybe getting a deal on something cool for your home theater wall) or you just want to look at what’s available, there’s just a ton of cool stuff to see. And again, more posters are being added all the time. So do give it a look, and please feel free to share the link with anyone you think might be interested. You’ll find them all here.
All right, that’s it for today. Have a great weekend!
Stay tuned…
